Base development at stage 2

Over the last few years, we’ve outgrown our Clegg Street base. Once upon a time, with less equipment and fewer vehicles, our ‘two up two down’, with its two garages and limited parking, was the ideal spot. But, as our role with the emergency services has developed, so too has the need for more sophisticated equipment and vehicles – we now have three specially mountain rescue team vehicles, including a specially modified ‘ambulance’, a control vehicle and a trailer. Not to mention the stretchers, vacmats and casbags, ropes and medical equipment. Alongside this, as the team has grown, so has the number of operation members – each with their own vehicle. Which means our parking facilities within this residential area are woefully inadequate. In 2010, we launched our New Base Appeal, the aim to raise £500,000 for a purpose built headquarters in Haslingden, with sufficient storage and parking, and room for training and operational purposes, as well as the facility to offer demonstrations and talks on our own premises. We have the land – now all we need to do is raise the funds!
