It’s all about the team…

Every year we go to The Lake District for the trainee assessment weekend.

Every year is the same approach, with trainees focusing on their newly trained skills in an environment away from home. They typically need to show a good understanding of radio protocol, navigation and self management whilst being out for the full day on the hill!

This year we weren’t let down by the weather, bringing fog, wind and rain in icy conditions.

For us full team members the weekend is a chance for us all to get together, get to know the new trainees and have a good olde knees up!

So after a full-on day we’d like to say how well the trainees did. They showed resolve and character whilst still smiling and from all the full team present over the weekend it was a pleasure to be with them!!

Needless to say in true Mountain Rescue tradition we’ve got a few sore heads the morning after but we leave feeling proud and aspired that we keep progressing with a great bunch of people.

Well done guys!!!

From leadership and the team, you did an ace job!!
