Ambulance Assist
November 30, 2008 @ 7:45 AM
38: On standby to assist the ambulance service during poor weather conditions, team members dealt with a number of incidents.
We were called to assist an ambulance stuck in snow at Rossendale Hospital, with no casualty on board;
a patient with abdominal pains in Rochdale; a patient with breathing difficulties in Rawtenstall town centre; and a patient who had slipped and sustained injury in Burnley town centre.
It was evident that GMAS were asking us to attend incidents where it was not a case of difficult access, but of insufficient ambulance availability. It was subsequently discussed with Ambulance Control that this was not our role and we stood down 3.00pm, as conditions improved.
