79: A party of three teenaged girls had become disorientated whilst walking with their dogs on the moors above Hapton towards Hameldon Hill.
One party member was reported to be suffering from heat exhaustion. They’d started their walk from the Hapton Inn so the team leader asked the police to get ON99 to overfly the area to try and locate the girls.
He then the rang informant to ask the party to identify themselves to the helicopter by making a 'Y' shape with their arms. By 17.30 the party had been located and the grid ref (SD795289) passed to the team.
Team members drove onto the moor and then proceeded on foot to the location. All three girls were taken to a team vehicle and driven back to the RV at the top of Hameldon Road and then onward to their home addresses. The team stood down at 19.42hrs.
