82: We were advised of a possible search for a missing walker in the Hurstwood Reservoir area, near Burnley.
A husband and wife had become separated whilst walking along the Brindle Path near the reservoir.
When the man returned to look for the his wife, he couldn’t find her and became concerned due to her pre-existing asthmatic condition and reported her missing. ON99 was tasked to overfly the area and Inspector Phil Broughton at the scene requested the team turn out to search the area.
As team members arrived at the scene the woman drew up in the car park in a taxi. Apparently she had hurt her ankle during the walk and made her way to the nearest farmhouse to ask for help. She called a taxi and returned to the car park to meet up with her husband. We stood down at 21.49hrs.
