35: Halloween and we were asked by Lancashire police to be on hand in case of incident on Pendle Hill.
One was recorded. Team members assembled at Barley Village Hall and were asked by Sgt Mark Baines to search for six walkers (one adult and five older teenagers) who had reported themselves lost on Pendle, via a 999 call. Control established a telephone link with the party, who described what they could see from their location. A vehicle was tasked to Pendle House Farm with blue lights flashing, in the hope that the hill party could see it. They could and responded by flashing torches when asked. Visual contact was established and two vehicles were sent to Higher Buttock Farm, below the location. Two team members escorted the party – who had now joined up with another two walkers – off the hill. All the walkers were then brought by team vehicle to Barley Village Hall.
