CALLOUT 52, 53 & 54

It would seem the recent busy streak of callouts hasn’t stopped this week, with the team deployed on Monday, Wednesday and in the early hours of Thursday morning.

 

Callout #52

 

On Monday morning (shortly before 10:30, 21/07/25), the team was requested to assist the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) with a casualty who had suffered an open fracture to their lower leg at a park in Padiham. The ambulance crew were on scene but was requesting assistance to safely evacuate the casualty to the awaiting ambulance. As the team vehicle arrived, the bell stretcher was utilised to evacuate the casualty for onward transportation to hthe ospital and further medical care.

 

Callout #53

 

On Wednesday afternoon (15:07 23/7/25), the team was made aware of a casualty with an ankle injury on Pendle Hill. Contact was made to confirm their location, and the team deployed.

 

As team members arrived on scene and carried out some initial observations, the ankle injury was deemed to pose a more significant risk. As such, the casualty was promptly packaged with a vacuum splint and evacuated to meet with an ambulance at the nearby farm to take them to the hospital for further medical care.

 

Callout #54

 

Whilst tucked in bed and reenergising following our weekly training session on Wednesday night, phones went off once again shortly after 04:00 (24/7/25) with a request for assistance to a casualty who had suffered a significant fall onto rocks near Blackburn.

 

Both the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (inc HART) as well as Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (Official) were already deployed and en route.

 

Once initial team members arrived on scene, it was confirmed that the casualty had been located, and a hasty evacuation had been commenced. It was confirmed that further assistance was no longer required, so the remaining team members were stood down en route and able to return home.
