CALLOUT 61

On Thursday evening (4/9/25), shortly after 8 pm, the team received a request from Lancashire Police about an incident which had been passed to them from

 

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) – A call reporting an injured biker near Dearden Brook, Edenfield, just to the South of Cowpe Lowe. With limited details, a callout was initiated, and team members made their way towards the general location. Due to the uncertainty of the area, a request was made for support from the coastguard helicopter.

 

Our team vehicle made its way up one of the access tracks above the brook, where team members then made their way down the steep embankment towards the initial location. The casualty was subsequently located and initial treatment given, whilst further team members then proceeded with the required equipment.

 

The casualty was provided pain relief and packaged into a full-body vacuum mattress ready to be evacuated. After finishing their prior tasking, Coastguard Rescue 936 from Caernarfon was tasked to assist in this incident. The Coastguard helicopter arrived on scene approximately 22:15, where the casualty was then transferred onto the aircraft and subsequently flown to Manchester to be handed over to an ambulance crew for onward transportation to the hospital.
