On Sunday afternoon (15:25 21/9/25), our team leaders were contacted by Calder Valley Search & Rescue Team (CVSRT) for assistance with an incident near to
Todmorden. They were already dealing with a separate incident, and a second call was received about a gentleman who had slipped on the hillside and suffered an injury to his lower leg.
Team members made their way to the RV point and were subsequently deployed to the hill, where they met with colleagues from the ambulance service, along with a member of CVSRT who had made their way directly to the location.
As an evacuation plan was agreed upon, further resources from CVSRT also arrived at the RV point and made their way up the hill to the casualty site. Fortunately, not long after, the request for assistance from the air ambulance was agreed and the casualty was packaged ready to be carried to the helicopter.
The teams worked together seamlessly, and as the helicopter landed on the hillside above the casualty’s location, a combined effort of both teams carried the casualty up and over the much flatter terrain to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance for onward transportation to the hospital.
We wish the gentleman a speedy recovery.
