Just when we thought the bank holiday was over, a second callout of the weekend came in at 21:45 on Monday evening (4/5/26).
The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) requested our assistance with the extraction of a casualty who had sustained a knee injury. The NWAS crew had initially made their way to the location provided via What3Words, but as the team arrived at the RVP it became clear the location was incorrect. Updated details were obtained through NWAS Control, placing the incident within Aitken Wood / the Pendle Sculpture Trail.
Team members were re-tasked and made their way up through the woods to reach the casualty. NWAS provided pain relief before the casualty’s leg was splinted. They were then placed onto the bell stretcher and wheel for a long, approximately 1km evacuation back up through the woods, before meeting the track and descending to the ambulance and team vehicles.
Team members stood down and returned home in the early hours of Tuesday morning. As always, we wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
